Amazon offers cloud application management beta called Elastic Beanstalk

By | January 19, 2011

Today I got an email from Amazon (AWS) describing their new cloud application management product offering called Elastic Beanstalk. According to the email, the Elastic Beanstalk will allow for a quick and easy way to deploy application to the AWS cloud. Elastic Beanstalk will automatically handle the deployment details of capacity provisioning, load balancing, auto-scaling, and application health monitoring.

I’m currently running a Windows 2008 server in the AWS cloud so I’m very interested in how this new system will work. The program is in beta status now so it definitely is a good time to check it out if you are interested in developing a cloud based application. This beta release of Elastic Beanstalk is built for Java developers using the Apache Tomcat software stack which ensures easy portability to other systems.
